Therapy or Counselling?Counselling can be described as the art of listening and can be understood as being similar to having a really deep conversation with a friend or close relative, but free of the emotional or judgemental threats inherent in talking to a person you know. We regard therapy as incorporating the principles of counselling but going further in that has a strong directive element and also embraces education. Many who suffer from depression, stress or alcohol related illness find this approach intuitive and helpful as they often feel they are benefiting not just from having someone to listen to them, but from that person's expertise and guidance as well. Sessions normally last one hour and are tailored to meet the needs of the individual. Charges vary according to location and time. Please enquire via the Contact Us page of this web site for full details. For some people, getting away from home for the time needed to have a therapy session is prohibitive and so some of the APS therapists will offer domestic visits. |
